About Asi Ukere
Asi Ukere is a physician and board-certified specialist in anesthesiology. For 15 years she worked in university anesthesiology, intensive care and emergency medicine at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE), for many years as a senior physician (Funktionsoberärztin). She also holds additional qualifications in special intensive care medicine, special pain therapy and emergency medicine, and she published clinical research from the UKE Department of Anesthesiology on ventilation and circulation during surgery.
At UKE she cared for many patients with complex illnesses, including many people living with chronic conditions whose diseases were being managed rather than prevented. That experience led her increasingly toward functional and preventive medicine. Her focus today is on biochemical and cellular processes long before a disease develops, and on how the body can compensate for stress over long periods before the balance tips.
She completed further training in functional medicine with the Institute for Functional Medicine (USA), in hormone therapy during peri- and menopause with Dr. Katrin Schaudig and Dr. Anneliese Schwenkhagen, and in preventive and anti-aging medicine as well as micronutrient medicine. Her work covers prevention and long-term health, exhaustion and recovery, women's health, hormonal changes in peri- and menopause and andropause, sleep, metabolism and body composition, movement and strength training, and acute and chronic pain.
Today she works in preventive and longevity medicine in Berlin and Hamburg, including at the practice Beckers und Partner in Berlin-Charlottenburg. Her work starts with a detailed medical history and differentiated diagnostics, from which she and her patients develop individual strategies that are medically sound and practical in everyday life, in close collaboration with the practice team.
On 29 September 2026 she gave the talk "The Night Shift: What your body is really doing while you sleep" at Longevity Hamburg in the Prismeo LAB in Hamburg. In German, she explained sleep architecture, the circadian rhythm and the evidence on sleep and long-term health, and separated evidence from hype on sleep supplements and sleep technology.
