Newton Health Discount Code

Newton Health sells a single product line, Clean Protein, a vegan protein powder made in Germany. The code LC10 takes 10% off at checkout, and it also applies to the two tub and three tub bundles. We negotiated the code for the Longevity Cities community.

What is in Clean Protein

Clean Protein comes in two flavours, cocoa and vanilla. The numbers below are the ones Newton Health publishes.

• One tub holds 810 g, which works out to roughly 27 servings at a 30 g scoop.
• The blend is 43.4% fava bean protein isolate, 25.0% pea protein isolate and 20.0% rice protein concentrate.
• 100 g of powder contains 75 g protein. A 30 g serving provides about 22 g protein, about 2 g fat, 1 to 3 g carbohydrates, under 0.6 g sugar and about 120 kcal.
• Each serving adds 690 mg L-leucine, 6.6 µg vitamin D3 (132% NRV), 13 µg vitamin K2 (17% NRV) and 1.3 µg vitamin B12 (52% NRV).
• Newton Health states the recipe is vegan, free from soy, lactose and gluten, without aspartame, artificial sweeteners or fillers, and formulated without the 14 major allergens.

Why protein matters for longevity

Protein contributes to the growth and maintenance of muscle mass, and that is the reason protein intake keeps coming up in longevity reading. Newton Health positions Clean Protein for people over 40 and cites a loss of 0.5 to 1% of muscle mass per year from age 30, alongside an intake of 1.4 to 1.7 g per kg of body weight for that age group.

Plant proteins each have a limiting amino acid: pea is low in methionine, rice is low in lysine, so blends are built so the sources cover each other. Fava bean, pea and rice do that here, and the 690 mg of added L-leucine raises the leucine content of a serving. The added vitamins cover three nutrients plant based eaters commonly under-supply: vitamin D contributes to normal muscle function and to the maintenance of normal bones, and vitamin B12 contributes to normal energy-yielding metabolism.
