Longevity Basel

Your free, science-based community for living longer and better in Basel.

always free

What is Longevity Basel?

Longevity Basel is a free, science-based community for people in Basel who want to stay healthy for longer. The Basel chapter of Longevity Cities is being founded right now, so the first people to join help decide what it becomes: movement, sleep, nutrition, stress or the research behind them. No medical background needed, just curiosity.

No meetups have been published yet. Basel is a natural home for the topic: a university city since 1460 and a major centre for pharma and life sciences, with the Rhine running through the middle. Ideas for first formats are simple ones, such as a walk along the Rhine promenade in Kleinbasel, a shared dinner or a talk with a local researcher, and the founding members decide together.

There is no Basel WhatsApp group yet. Create a free account and follow this page to hear about the first meetup, and get in touch through the contact page if you would like to co-organise. Longevity Basel is a community, not a longevity clinic: once it is running, people come to learn, compare notes on tests and check-ups and ask experts questions.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Longevity Basel?+
Longevity Basel is the Basel chapter of Longevity Cities, a free and non-commercial community for healthy ageing that is currently being founded. It will bring people in Basel together around movement, sleep, nutrition, stress and good relationships, with an evidence-based view. No regular events have been published yet, and the first meetups will be announced on this page.
Are there meetups or events for longevity in Basel?+
Not yet: Longevity Basel is a founding chapter and no meetup dates have been published. The first ones will be listed in the calendar on this page as soon as they are fixed. Formats from other Longevity Cities chapters, such as easy walks, shared dinners and expert talks, show what a first meetup could look like, and founding members shape which one comes first.
Is there a longevity clinic or longevity doctor in Basel?+
Basel has private practices and check-up centres that offer longevity programmes, but Longevity Basel is not one of them: we are a free community and do not diagnose or treat. In Switzerland a longevity blood test starts at roughly 280 francs, clinic check-ups typically cost roughly 1,000 to 2,000 francs and premium programmes go above 10,000 francs, none of it covered by basic insurance. Ask which physician is responsible for the results.
How can I test my biological age in Basel?+
You can test your biological age in Basel in three ways: an epigenetic test by post, blood-based markers through your GP or a private lab (longevity blood tests from roughly 280 francs) or simple fitness markers such as VO2max and grip strength. The fitness markers cost nothing, because the VO2max calculator and the grip-strength test with age norms are free on this site. Treat any single result as a snapshot.
How can I help build Longevity Basel?+
Founding members and co-organisers are exactly what Longevity Basel needs right now. Create a free account, follow this page and use the contact page to say what you would like to do: host a walk along the Rhine, find a venue for a first dinner, invite a speaker from the university or simply come along. A small founding group is all it takes to get started.
Where can I find a biohacking or healthy living community in Basel?+
Longevity Basel is being built as that place: a free community in Basel for talking biohacking and healthy living with an evidence filter. Until the first meetup, you can already use the free tools on this site, from the face-age test to the zone-2 heart-rate and protein calculators, and follow this page so you hear the moment the first date is set.
How do I meet like-minded people in Basel?+
Basel is a city of students, researchers and internationals, which makes it easy to find people curious about healthy ageing, and Longevity Basel will give them a regular place to meet. Nothing is scheduled yet. If you are new to the city, joining as a founding member is one of the friendliest ways to start: you help pick the first walk or dinner. All adults are welcome.
What does Longevity Basel cost and how do I join?+
Longevity Basel is free: create an account on the site and follow the Basel page. There is no Basel WhatsApp group yet, so announcements appear on this page and in the calendar. Once meetups are published, some formats such as a walk along the Rhine are usually free, while you pay for your own food and drinks at a dinner, and each listing states costs upfront.
Which language will Longevity Basel meetups be in?+
The language of Longevity Basel meetups will be stated in each event listing, and the founding group can shape that too. Basel sits on the border with Germany and France and has a large international research community, so German and English are both likely to feature. If you have a preference, mention it when you get in touch through the contact page.
