What is Longevity Shenzhen?

Longevity Shenzhen is a free, science-based community for people in Shenzhen who want to stay healthy for longer. The Shenzhen chapter of Longevity Cities brings curious people together around sleep, stress, recovery and everyday habits, and puts popular health ideas next to what the research actually shows. No medical background needed.

The programme began in June 2026 with a Speaker Series in Futian: sleep as a pillar of longevity, functional medicine and personalised health, the science of ginseng at Hong Kong Science Park Shenzhen, and vagus nerve regulation in Bao'an. A 60-minute evening yoga session with breathwork and a singing bowl added a hands-on format. Talks are held in English, the ginseng talk in English and Chinese.

Joining is free: create an account, join the Shenzhen WhatsApp group linked on this page and check the calendar. Longevity Shenzhen is a community, not a longevity clinic and not a whole-body cryotherapy center. People come here to learn, compare notes and ask experts their questions at talks.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Longevity Shenzhen?+
Longevity Shenzhen is the Shenzhen chapter of Longevity Cities, a free and non-commercial community for healthy ageing. Its Speaker Series started in June 2026 and covers sleep, functional medicine, ginseng research and the vagus nerve, alongside movement sessions such as yoga with breathwork. Anyone interested can join, no scientific background required.
Is there a whole-body cryotherapy center in Shenzhen?+
Longevity Shenzhen is not a whole-body cryotherapy center: we are a free community with talks and meetups, and we neither offer nor recommend cryo sessions. Whole-body cryotherapy means standing for two to three minutes in a chamber cooled to roughly minus 110 to minus 140 degrees Celsius. If you look for a provider, prefer one that names a responsible physician and explains contraindications before your first session.
Does whole-body cryotherapy work, and is it safe?+
The evidence is limited: small studies suggest whole-body cryotherapy may ease perceived muscle soreness after hard exercise, but there is no good evidence that it slows ageing or extends life. Risks include cold burns and frostbite, and it is not advised with heart disease, uncontrolled high blood pressure, pregnancy, Raynaud's syndrome or cold allergy, so ask a doctor first. Cold showers or cold water immersion are a simpler way to explore cold exposure.
Is there a longevity clinic or longevity doctor in Shenzhen?+
Shenzhen has private clinics and hospital health-check departments, and one Longevity Shenzhen talk on functional medicine was given in cooperation with a longevity health center, but Longevity Shenzhen itself is not a clinic and does not diagnose or treat. Prices vary widely, so ask for a full itemised price including follow-ups. Be wary of any offer that promises to reverse ageing or sells a treatment plan before any tests.
Where can I test my biological age in Shenzhen?+
You can look at biological age in Shenzhen through an epigenetic test, a blood panel from a hospital or private clinic, or fitness markers such as VO2max and grip strength, which you can estimate for free with the tools on this site. Prices vary widely, and epigenetic clocks still differ between providers, so read a single result as a snapshot. Some meetups run a short Longevity Check against age norms.
What longevity events are there in Shenzhen?+
Longevity Shenzhen runs a Speaker Series plus occasional movement sessions. Past events included Why Sleep is the Main Pillar for Longevity on 26 June 2026, How Functional Medicine Supports Longevity on 17 July, The Science of Ginseng on 31 July at Hong Kong Science Park, a Traditional Yoga Session on 23 August and a talk on vagus nerve regulation on 28 August in Bao'an. New dates are in the calendar on this page.
Where can I find a longevity or biohacking community in Shenzhen?+
Longevity Shenzhen is a free place in Shenzhen to talk longevity, sleep, recovery and biohacking with an evidence filter. Talks put popular ideas next to the research, from neurostimulation and sleep to ginseng and vagus nerve regulation, and speakers take questions afterwards. Between events, the Shenzhen WhatsApp group linked on this page is the place to swap experiences.
Are there yoga or breathwork sessions in Shenzhen?+
Yes, occasionally. Longevity Shenzhen listed a 60-minute Traditional Yoga Session on 23 August 2026 that combined holistic yoga, breathwork and a singing bowl on a weekend evening. The chapter is not a yoga studio, so sessions are announced as single events in the calendar on this page. They complement the talks: one gives you the science, the other a way to slow down.
Are Longevity Shenzhen events in English or Chinese?+
Most Longevity Shenzhen talks are announced in English, and the ginseng talk was offered in English and Chinese, which makes the community a good fit for internationals in Shenzhen as well as bilingual locals. Venues so far have been in Futian and Bao'an, and each listing states the language, address and sign-up link.
What does Longevity Shenzhen cost and how do I join?+
Longevity Shenzhen is free to join: create an account, join the Shenzhen WhatsApp group linked on this page and sign up for a talk through the link in its listing. Talks and yoga sessions can have their own entry details, for example a room booked in a Futian office tower or the convention center in Bao'an, and each listing states any cost upfront.
